Question by alienofwar: Why do right-wing radio jockey’s sound like sales people piching a product?
Do you guys notice that when you listen to Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly etc, that when they are talking…it’s like they are always trying to convince you their ideas are the best, but they are not as interested in actually discussing the the wrong and rights of an issues? Like, they are already stuck in the ideology, so why talk about it? Nothing is going to change their mind anyways. So basically, they are just sales people pitching a product!

Correct?

Because they’re flim-flam men (and women too). Like all con artist they are constantly fishing for a sap.

  2. Romare Says:

I agree. And they ARE pitching a product: they are trying to convince the “low information voters,” as they’re being called, to vote a certain way and to support certain issues and to think a certain way. And lo and behold, they are good at it, and it works! Just notice how many on here cannot support their points with logical arguments. They simply parrot what they hear on the radio, and then when they are challenged with facts, they stoop to personal attacks. It’s because they haven’t really thought these things through for themselves.

i agree. but a lot of people foolishly fall for it. their audience is filled with stupid and ignorant people

  4. Saxton Hardcastle Says:

Talk radio should only be a source of entertainment those who really follow the opinions made on the radio do have some very low IQs

  5. Knochen Hussein Schinken Says:

Gosh, nothing like that ever happens here at YA. Everyone is so open minded.

  6. Westward Wind Says:

No. They’ve got a Conservative viewpoint and the whole purpose of their show is to convey that viewpoint to the listeners and discuss issues from that viewpoint. The reason it sounds like a ‘product pitch’ to you is you don’t share that same point of view, so you never get past that initial stage to listen to any of the issues because you’re stuck on the ideology.

Do you think Al Franken does things any different on his show? How about Thom Hartmann or Lionel or any of the other left wingers on Air America. They’re all selling it from the other side of the street. The only difference is, nobody’s listening to them…

  7. Scott T Says:

They are basically propagandists for the Republican party who jokingly claim to be “non-partisan”. The funniest thing about them is that they rant on about the “media” being liberal and elite, but they *are* the media, and they are pretty elite themselves.

  8. NOBAMABOT Says:

Why do liberals feel like they know better than conservatives?

  9. danrathersdrunkagain Says:

That might be the perception, but it’s only because there aren’t any successful liberal radio jockeys out there. Oh, wait a minute, you do have Randi Rhodes, but she couldn’t convince a termite to eat wood.

  10. townn Says:

yes, to sell their books and other products.
